Taiwan to propose "green initiative" at APEC meeting Taiwan is set to propose a "green initiative" at this year's Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (or APEC) ministerial meeting, which began Wednesday in Sydney, Australia. Taiwan's environmental proposal is called the "Green APEC Opportunity Initiative." Under the initiative, Taiwan will share its experience in environmental protection. Specific areas include industrial environmental protection, clean production, pollution control, and greenhouse gas emission reduction. Taiwan's APEC representatives will look for opportunities to cooperate with other member countries in those areas. Eight member bodies create paperless customs systems, in response to a green Taiwan is currently helping initiative proposed by host-country Australia.
